The charming city of Virton is situated right in the centre of the Gaume region in the southernmost part of Luxemburg. The surroundings, with hills and woods, offer a very special micro climate which is responsible for the title 'Belgium Provence' given to this region. Virton is ideally situated for trips to the fort of Montmédy (F), the abbey of Orval- where genuine Trappist beer is brewed- and the city of Luxemburg with its historical centre and plenty of shopping facilities. The beauty of nature, the woods, pastures full of flowers, and the Gaume region as a whole make this the ideal holiday destination for everyone. Using holiday park Vallée de Rabais as a starting point you will have plenty of possibilities for trips: a visit to Montauban, Montmédy and the citadel Vauban; the fort of Maginot - Fermont; the museum of the Gaume; the chapel of Torgny; as well as various castles, churches, chapels, houses and monasteries. Here you will also find typical villages such as Gérouville (founded by the monks of Orval), Damvillers, Marville, and Torgny (one of the most beautiful villages of Wallonia). Many events are organised throughout the entire year: local markets, flea markets, handicraft markets, a music festival in Virton (June), buskers and street performers in Chassepierre (except last weekend of August), and Christmas fairs. Vallée de Rabais is also located near the French and Luxemburg borders, providing even further destinations for trips! This region also has some special activities to offer the younger guest: a bison’s farm and petting zoo in Bastogne; the Eurospace Centre in Transinne; Houtopia – the children’s world - in Houffalize; and the amusement park Walibi-Lorraine.
