The house is surrounded by wonderful nature and stands close to the largest water reservoir in the Jizera Mountains: Josefův důl. You will find in Bedřichov a road connection to the Jizera Magistrale – a mountain-top route through the whole range. The town of Liberec (11 km), perfectly restored, is a major tourist attraction thanks to its fine zoo, botanic gardens and artisan shops. Shopping centre Babylon with an aqua park enjoys nationwide popularity. Jablonec nad Nisou (9 km) is famous for gems and glass pearl beads industry. Its glass- and jewelry museum is definitely worth a visit. Another type of museum, bound to leave a deeper impact, is situated in Terezín concentration camp (105 km). Approximately 4 km further lies the royalty town of Litomeřice filled with countless beautiful houses and churches. It also has an extensive September exhibition of vegetables, fruits and flowers. Česká Lípa (67 km) has a curious building decorated with sgrafitto, the so-called Red House. Besides, there are two beautiful churches and an interesting museum at the St. Augustine Convent. Nový Bor is proud of its 300-year-old tradition of teaching glassblowing. Not far from your house there is a basalt hill with 10 to 15 m high basalt crystals standing like organ pipes in a row. Gigantic fortress Frýdlant towers on another basalt rock above the Smedá River 23 km to the north from Liberec. It houses a world-renowned collection of art. Not far from the town of Turnov (30 km) there is a unique deposit of amethyst and agate and a museum telling you the whole story of mining, cutting and polishing these precious stones. Some of the original ornaments created there can be purchased at the jewelry school. Turnov is often picked as a starting point for excursions in the neighbouring nature reserve Ceský Ráj (Bohemian Paradise). And if you intend to finish the day “in taste”, go for a meal at an excellent pizzeria in Janov or visit a first-class restaurant on the way to Bedřichov – the quality and price will not be disappointing!
