L'Estartit is situated at the foot of the Mongri Mountains and is a popular small seaside resort on the Costa Brava. In the cozy, old center there are many restaurants, bars and shops. For divers, the Medas Islands with their beautiful underwater flora and fauna, are highly recommended. It is also possible to circumvent the islands by boat. Entering the islands with the intent to damage its habitat is not permitted! Another recommended attraction is the small town of Torroella de Montgri. This is a picturesque village where you can wander through narrow streets and enjoy a drink in one of the many small cafés. It is also worthwhile to visit the castle of Torroella located on Montgri Mountain. About 15 km away you will find other old, medieval villages like Pals and Peretallada. From L'Estartit the village of Figueres is easy to reach and is worth a visit because of its Dalì Museum. La Bisbal is located about 20 km away and is highly recommended for ceramic lovers as it is known as the 'pottery capital'. Here you will find many ceramics shops. Traditionally, pitchers were produced but nowadays there are a lot of different decorative ceramics made here. Even for sports fans there are a lot of possibilities in the area including a 26-hole golf course, horseback riding, cycling and hiking.
