Guardamar, near Daya Nueva, is situated on the sea, and has beautiful beaches and numerous sand dunes where you find beautiful hiking trails. Guardamar is very beautiful in spring (from January to April) with its emerging spring greenery. The botanical garden of Elche is highly recommended. Founded in the 10th century by the Arabs, Elche has more than 30,000 palm trees, which gives the town an exotic atmosphere. This 'Palmera' is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
