Orihuela Costa is located about 10 km from the center of Torrevieja. This place is made up of various housing estates / areas and forms the coast south of Torrevieja (a length of about 5-10 km). Here there are many possibilities for entertainment such as restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Nearby there are plenty of supermarkets. In addition to a number of smaller beaches (in Playa Flamenca, La Zenia and Cabo Roig), there is also a beautiful, large sandy beach at Dehesea de Campoamor. Torrevieja offers several attractions such as: the largest salt lakes in Europe; the Church of the Immaculate Conception; and the Mata-tower. The city of Alicante also has a lot to offer, including the Castle of San Fernando. This castle was built to defend the city against invasion by the armies of Napoleon. The fort was never completed. Today (2003) the castle is a theme park. Even the town hall is worth a visit. It is originally a baroque building. On the first landing of stairs there is a disc with the text 'punto cero' (zero) written on it. From this point all altitudes in Spain are calculated. In Torrevieja there is the Aquapolis water park for children, which has 12 different pools and slides.
