Icod de los Vinos is located on the west coast of Tenerife. Tenerife is a part of the Canary Islands and has volcanic origins, which means the beaches consist mainly of black lava sand. The largest island is the volcano El Teide with a height of 3718 meters. Icod de los Vinos is characterized by steep cliffs and expansive levels, with nearly 10 km of coastal area. The northern part of the island is a very green area, especially the Valle de la Orotave with banana plantations and a single flora. One tree, which is found nowhere else in the world, is the dragon's blood tree. This tree may be thousands of years old. Beautiful places on the island include: the ports of San Marcos; the Cueva del Viento, the longest cave of the world; and the capital of the island, Santa Cruz.
