Girona is a district rich in nature and tourist sights. At the distance of approximately 40 km you will find the village of Banyoles where you can visit a prehistoric settlement. Besides, there are many other picturesque villages in the neighbourhood of Vall d'en Bas, such as Hostalets and Joanetas, and even villages with medieval relics, i.e. Besalu and Sta. Pau. The towns of Gerona and Figueras (or Figueres) are located at the distance of app. 50 kilometer and are definitely worth a visit. In Figueras you will find the famous Dali museum and Gerona is known for its numerous Arabic bathhouses, the gothic cathedral and the Plaza de la Independencia where you can enjoy a drink at one of the many outdoor cafes. Further you can admire the timeless beauty of nature in the province of Girona. There are plenty of hiking and biking routes that will lead you along the most beautiful spots. Very special is the volcanic landscape of Garrotxa, with volcano “Croscat” that reaches the height of 786 meter.
