Detailed information and material regarding the surroundings is available at the reception area. Hastière is situated 6 km from the French border and nearby Dinant. Both towns are tourist attractions famous for their unique location on the de Maas River. Hastière offers a number of sights including grottos and a yacht club (sailing classes). Of course the best known and most spectacular activity is the famous descent down the de Lesse by kayak or boat. The impressive river valley of the Maas is flanked by rocks (Freyr), castles and magnificently wooded hills. The valley is also called the “Valley of Fortresses and Castles”. Discover the castles of Freyr, Vêves or Spontin, the ruins of Palace and Montaigle and of course do not forget the citadel of Dinant. Throughout the year there are many events organized in the surrounding villages. For example, there is a guided tour through the valley of Maas; night markets (in Jul/Aug); night cruises with music (in Jul/Aug); "Sunday of the Saxophone" (in Jul/Aug); Dinant Jazz Nights (end of September); as well as various markets and flea markets. Some ideas for day trips with children include: Provincial Domain of Chevetogne with 10 playgrounds, outdoor pool and petting zoo; the grottos of Han and a zoo; 'Maison de la Pataphonie' in Dinant; and de Mont-Fat and a citadel in Dinant; a cable way and a large playground.
