Property Description

The steep approach to Cortijo de los Montes, through olive and citrus groves and past spectacular mountain gorges, offers a stunning view of the muted sienna facade of the farmhouse. The property is dwarfed by an ageing Aleppo pine, which in turn is dominated by the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountain range of Southern Spain.

Some forty kilometres south of Granada, the property is situated high above the village of Albuñuelas in the valley of Lecrin near the Alpujarras and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. A great base for snow skiing or snow boarding at the excellent ski resort of Sol y Nieve in the spectacular mountains of the Sierra Nevada, only about an hours' drive away from the Lecrin Valley, December - April. The house offers an individual style and the current owners have managed to combine rustic decor with a touch of the exotic. Light colours on the walls balance the dark impact of the old wooden beams, the airy rooms and the use of crisp fabrics inducing a somewhat colonial atmosphere.

Local Information

This property is rural and is an ideal spot for walking in the beautiful countryside through the orange and olive groves, and to the mountains of Southern Spain. It is also a wonderful area for horse-riding.

There are many local villages nearby to explore, the nearest being Albunuelas where there are two restaurants, a couple of bars, a couple of small supermarkets and a chemist. The supermarket delivers food after 6pm, but bear in mind the owners do not speak English. There are other restaurants within five kilometres.

This beautiful area is a great base for snow skiing or snow boarding at the excellent ski resort of Sol y Nieve in the spectacular mountains of the Sierra Nevada, only about an hour's drive away from the Lecrin Valley, December - April.
