Local Information

The villa is conveniently located in the hills above the town and can be reached in about seven minutes by car from the port and picturesque waterfront of Skopelos town. En route to the house are two beaches; Glyfoneri and Glysteri. Glyfoneri is about four minutes drive from the house, and its small beach is reached by a steep road with several quaint tavernas perched above the sea, offering local fare, and fabulous views. The other beach, Glysteri, can be reached in approximately ten minutes drive from the house and is a protected north-facing inlet with a shingle beach. The clear blue water here is cooler than the islands' southern beaches, and a taverna is set right next to the sea, offering freshly caught seafood and traditional Greek dishes.
For those with an adventurous spirit, start out in the other direction from the house and you will find a rough dirt road, which leads straight across the island to the bay of Panormos with its expanse of white pebble beach and good selection of seaside tavernas. This drive should take about forty five minutes, allowing for a wrong turn or two! Along the way, a turn off leads to the highest peak of the island at 680 metres, Delphi, as well as to the Neolithic graves of Sendukia. This interesting site, reached in about thirty minutes walk from the dirt road where a car can be left, has several tomb-like holes carved into the giant stones that make up the hilltop.

On a clear day, the views stretch as far as the Halkidiki peninsula, and Mt. Athos on the northern mainland of Greece. As well as driving to these points of interest, the villa is a great starting point for walkers. This area has plenty of opportunities for explorers, both for the hearty hiker, and those just wanting a stroll in the Greek countryside.

Surrounded by a privacy wall, the villa is beautifully landscaped and has a gated entrance. Pretty bougainvillea and pots filled with blooming flowers greet you at the front door. This elegantly designed house is traditional in style and spills down the steep hillside, giving it such spectacular views. The partially covered terrace off the kitchen is one of the best features of the house.

Easily reached from the kitchen for convenience, is a large area with barbecue and long picnic-style table with built-in seating on one side, and a bench on the other. This enchanting space is filled with terracotta pots brimming with flowers and pretty blue cushions with an abundance of pillows for added comfort. A perfect place for a sunny breakfast, looking down upon the kidney shaped pool and further to the sweeping views of sea and hillsides. Directions

The Sporades Islands can be reached from the UK, most major European cities, and the US, in several different ways depending on which Greek airport is best serviced by your departure point. Below, we have listed the ways and means to reach Skopelos from each of the four airports which have convenient and direct services to these islands:

Skiathos
The easiest way to get to Skopelos is by charter flight directly to Skiathos. Many European countries have charter flights directly to Skiathos airport with a limited number of “Flight only” seats. Charter flights can usually only be booked for one, two, or three full weeks (i.e. Friday-Friday). From Skiathos there are several ferry and hydrofoil crossings every day to Skopelos (about ¾ hour). Skiathos port is approximately five minutes from the airport.
Thessaloniki
It is also possible and convenient to travel via the second largest city in Greece, Thessaloniki. There is now direct airline service from Thessaloniki to Skiathos on Wed and Sat which takes ¾ hour and costs about 85 Euro one way (including taxes). From Skiathos there are several ferry and hydrofoil crossings every day to Skopelos (about ¾ hour). Skiathos port is about five minutes from the airport.
There is also a direct, return Flying Catamaran service from Thessaloniki to Skopelos daily (about 3 hours and about 35 Euro one way). This service usually runs from mid-June to mid-September. There is also conventional ferry service (about 6¾ hours /30 Euros one way). We can assist with arranging a taxi transfer from the Thessaloniki airport to the port (about ¾ hour/40 Euros).Timetables need to be checked as times of ferry departures vary from season to season, and a useful web site for up-to-date times and prices is www.gtpnet.gr
From some European countries you can also fly directly into the small airport of New Acheallos near the port city of Volos. By taxi from the airport, you may reach Volos port in about twenty minutes. There are several crossings a day from Volos to the Skopelos by hydrofoil and high speed ferry which take between two and three hours, depending on the type of ferry and costs about 32 Euro one way.
Another possibility is to travel via Athens to Skopelos. From Athens there are three ways of getting to the islands:1. Domestic flight with Olympic Airways to Skiathos (about ½ hour/65 Euro) and hydrofoil from Skiathos to Skopelos (about ¾ hour /10 Euro) www.olympic-airways.com
2. Bus from Athens Centre to Agios Konstantinos (about 2¼ hours/13 Euro) and then hydrofoil to Skopelos (about 2¼ hours/35 Euro).
3. Private transfer from Athens airport/city centre - Ag. Konstantinos. You may choose between a taxi or mini-bus transfer depending on the size of your party. The pick-up can be from the airport or city center and takes you directly to the boat departure port of Agios Konstantinos (taxi: about two hours/150 Euro for four people) (mini-bus: about two hours/available for 10-17 persons). Another advantage to these private transfers is that your boat tickets can be pre-reserved to Skopelos (about 2¼ hours/35 Euro).
The prices above are approximate, and per person for adults.
