Villa Park Livingstone is situated in the farthest northern island of Zeeland, Schowen-Duiveland. The north of Schouwen with a 17 km long beach is one the sunniest areas of the Netherlands. North-Zeeland offers countless holiday possibilities including relaxation, sports and games. Numerous biking and walking routes lead past such varied landscapes as few places in the Netherlands can boast of. You will pass through the dunes, forest, polder and along the water. In the forestry of Westenschouwen there is even a specially laid mountain bike route. A horseback riding school is not far from the park. The major part of Zeeland lies under the sea level. Back in 1953 the dikes were bad and low, which led to an immense flood in South-Western Holland on the night of February 1 of that year. After this calamity the construction of Delta Works was started. The Delta Works were called to guard the safety of land, which was achieved by engineering sluices and dams and heightening the dikes. The construction ended in 1986 and in 1987 the road bridge was put into use. These impressive works can be visited and examined from inside and outside. If you like swimming, you can set off to Kamperland, only 15 min driving from the villa park. There you will find a subtropical swimming paradise offering a free entrance to the guests of Livingstone. Close to Burgh-Haamstede there is the Haamstede Airport used by the Haamstede Flying Club. Gliders only are permitted to fly. You can fly together with the Haamstede Club, maximally 15 min per flight. From above you will have not only a fantastic view of the sea, beach and the dunes, but also the Westerschouwen forestry and the Oosterschelde storm surge barrier. In clear weather you can see Zeeland Flanders across the water and in the other direction the harbour area of Rotterdam.
