The Bohemian Paradise was a once popular region where princes and magistrates used to build their castles, fortresses and mansions. Most of these buildings are still in a good shape and definitely worth a visit. Romantic valleys with cliffs and rocks, green meadows and wooden houses. Magnificent far views from the top of sandstone cliffs. The tourist centre of the region is Turnov with neighbouring castles Valdštejn and Hrubý Rohonec. There are numerous cycling routes. You can swim in the private pool or in the nearby river Jizera with boat rental, go fishing in this river or walk in nature reserves Maloskálska and the Bohemian Paradise, and climb numerous sandstone cliffs. The distance to the towns of Turnov and Železný Brod is app. 7 km, and to the town of Liberec 22 km. There you will find a much-loved and frequented aqua park and a famous zoo. Or… you can choose to stay at home, enjoy your balcony or the terrace, to make some grill or just to snuggle up around the fireplace. If you have no wish to cook, visit one of the many small restaurants in the neighbourhood where you can enjoy a delicious and inexpensive meal.
