Property Description

This is a charming villa in a very secluded spot in central Algarve, in beautiful Val del Rei. It is an idyllic location; quiet and peaceful, yet within easy walking distance of the beach and the small cliff top fishing village of Benagil and with superb views. Villa Montinho is ideal for a family with two or three children, or for two couples. The property is owned by a sculptor and a potter and they have tastefully, but simply decorated their villa with original artworks and handmade ceramics.

Local Information

From Villa Montinho, it is possible to walk to the beach, as well as to the shop and several excellent restaurants in the fishing village of Benagil. The popular and lively resort of Carvoeiro is a seven minute drive away, as are the fabulous beaches and coves of Praia da Marinha. The major golf courses, water parks and all the tourist facilites of the Algarve are close to hand including the riding stables, fishing and boat trips.

With a car, one is within easy reach of the mountains around Monchique, the historical city of Silves, the modern port/city of Portimao and the local town of Lagoa with its shops, market, cafes and restaurants.

Linen and towels are provided with the villa, although pool and beach towels are not and you will need to bring your own. There is a washing machine and a weekly maid service for stays of over one week. The pool is cleaned once a week and there is a reliable maintenance service. There is private parking.

Babysitting and massage (both body and feet) are available on request and payable locally.

1 cot and 1 highchair is available - no extra charge. Firewood charged at £20 per week paid locally.

Villa Montinho is situated on 5000 metres of arable land, with an extensively terraced and private garden with almond, fig and lemon trees surrounding the villa. There is splendid countryside all around, so it is an ideal spot for walkers, bird watchers or those looking for tranquillity. There is a large partly covered terrace with a walled courtyard with a magnificent, mature palm for shady siestas. Stairs lead to a large sun roof and a few paces bring one to the stunning 11 x 4 metre swimming pool, which is surrounded by a large terrace, and a corner garden with a shady olive tree. The pool has underwater lighting, and is set in a splendid position.

Directions

Direct charter flights to Faro are on Thursdays. From there is it a fifty five kilometre drive to Villa Montinho, which takes about an hour and is a straightforward drive along the motorway to Carvoeiro. It is then about seven minutes to Val del Rei and Villa Montinho. You will be sent detailed directions.
