The city centre of Rokytnice is just outside the door. Here are all necessary facilities, like bowling, sauna, bars and restaurants. Both squares in town are very good for shopping. The St. Michaels church behind the house, which was build in the second half of the 18th century and restored in 1996 and the beautiful city hall build in 1902 are well worth the visit. Near Rokytnice is the old mountain house Dvoračky located on 1140m above sea level and is an old tavern. Passed this tavern runs the river Hut'sky which drops down in a 50m high waterfall. The Giant Mountain Range is very beautiful with its woods and conifers. Along the summits of the mountains is a 40km long path called "Krkonoše magistrále". Near this house is a vast net of walkways. Signpost and maps will point out the direction. During your walks you can use the chair lifts, which also operate in summer. It is best to bring your passports on these trips because you walk near the Polish border. Along the routes there are many taverns where you can stop off for refreshments. Other ideas for daytrips are: Harrachov near the border with Poland is only 17km away is well worth the visit with its glass museum and the cable car from Harrachov to Tanvald. Spindlerův Mlýn (42 km) is located on the banks of the river Labe (Elbe) and is the heart of the area and the top of the ski centres. A very special attraction is the 7km long bob sleigh track that starts at Spindlerova Bouda (Spindler chalet). This track is used in summer for lessons. The town of Vrchlabí (the high Elbe) is also located on the banks of the river Elbe, with its beautiful traditional wooden houses and its castle in Baroque style. The castle has 4 towers, one for each season, 52 rooms one for each week and 365 windows, one for each day. Liberec is one of the larger cities in Northern Bohemia. It has both old and new buildings. The old 17th century St Antonius church and the old city hall are one of the main attractions. If you don't feel like cooking, the many restaurants are only 100m away, where you can buy a cheap but very good meal.
