Local Information

Tamarindo is in the region of Guancaste which stretches from the Nicaraguan border southwards, from the cowboy culture in the north to the surf culture in the south and Playa Tamarindo is one of the most beautiful of these many sandy beaches that has a gradual slope with no rocks or dangerous currents. Perfect for swimming, surfing, boogie-boarding and some of the best salt water fishing in the world. Sport fishing boats available for rental. Horses for riding along the beaches or countryside, miles of beautiful beaches to walk along with numerous tide pools and there are tennis courts in Tamarindo. From November to February the great leatherback turtles nest on local beaches. Kayaking up one of the river estuaries or on the ocean is a great experience and the local underwater environment provides thrills for snorkelers, free divers and SCUBA divers. There are many one day tours available to various locations in the area where the wildlife and local flora and fauna can be seen. Howler monkeys and iguanas are a common sight. Bicycles, motor scooters and quads are available for rent in Tamarindo. There are two beautiful golf courses nearby, the Melia Conchal and Pinilla and all golf equipment can be rented. Casa Tamarindo is within walking distance of the village where you will find banks, numerous restaurants, bars, shops and supermarkets.
